PRI Pensionsgaranti pays SEK 200 million in dividends
PRI Pensionsgaranti reports a full-year result for the Group of SEK 2,642 million for 2024. Thanks to this result, PRI Pensionsgaranti's board of directors proposes that the company's owners receive SEK 200 million in dividends.
The past year was characterised by low costs for claims and a good return on capital, which means that PRI Pensionsgaranti's consolidation is so strong that dividends, as per the company's guidelines, must be considered.
The dividend is based on the credit insurance premiums paid by a client company over the past ten years and applies to companies that were credit insurance customers on 1 January 2025. Disbursement is planned for May/June 2025.
Questions and answers
PRI's consolidation is above the target level and its insurance business has had positive results. Forward-looking analyses conclude that existing capital is sufficient to fulfill the mandate to provide credit insurance to PRI's customers and to grow in step with customer needs.
SEK 200 million will be paid to the credit insurance customers.
The amount is allocated to each policyholder proportionally, based on the dividend qualifying premiums paid over the last ten years (supplemental premiums do not qualify for payment of dividends). To be eligible for the dividend, the company must also have been a credit insurance customer of PRI on 1 January 2025.
Prior to disbursement, companies will receive a letter stating the amount and information regarding which account (bankgiro, postgiro, or account number) we have on file. The letter will also be published on the online service.
The disbursement is planned for May–June 2025. Companies will receive a letter about this a few weeks before payment. The letter will also be published on the online service.
To the customer company's account (bankgiro, postgiro, or account number).
The dividend from PRI reduces the company's pension costs and should therefore be booked in the income statement under pension costs.
The dividend may also be booked as an expense reduction (i.e. as a credit to the expense account where the credit insurance premium is normally posted) or as other operating income.
The dividend is not subject to special payroll tax, nor is the credit insurance premium.
The calculation has been done in two steps: 1. The board of directors has set a total amount to be paid to policyholders. This is based on a number of factors, with PRI's consolidation being particularly important, as well as expected future capital requirements. 2. The amount will be distributed among policyholders in proportion to their contribution to the surplus. This is measured by 10-year premium history.
PRI is a mutual insurance company, which means that we are owned by the policyholders. If the company makes a profit (and has sufficient capital to continue operating), this profit is paid back to the policyholders.
In 2024 as well, PRI's consolidation was above the target level and we have had positive returns on the insurance business. According to our guidelines, we must consider paying dividends in these circumstances. In some years, we have waited to pay a dividend despite good returns and have, instead, paid a higher amount in subsequent years. For example, in 2022 and 2024, PRI paid dividends of SEK 400 million but no dividends in the years before.
